Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ares Espiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Vincent Franchel!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Espiro takes a swing at Franchel's ribcage but misses.
Espiro throws a right hand that misses
and Franchel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Espiro lands a slapping body shot.
Espiro throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Franchel sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Franchel misses with a low kick.
Espiro cracks Franchel with an open hand slap.
Franchel moves out of range of the strikes.
Franchel flicks out a counter leg kick but Espiro steps away.

Franchel shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Espiro manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Franchel is standing up over Espiro. Espiro looks to escape but Franchel dives into side control.


Franchel working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Franchel wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Espiro, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Espiro can't do much from the bottom here.
Franchel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Espiro keeps working.

Espiro's coaches at have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Espiro parries the strikes from Franchel easily there. Franchel is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Espiro to escape.

Franchel tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Franchel has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

We've been informed that Franchel has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Espiro shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Franchel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Franchel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Espiro swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd cheers as Espiro lands an impressive looking overhand right. Franchel doesn't seem phased though.

Franchel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Espiro is just riding it out for now. Franchel eventually gives up the hold.
Franchel wants to advance to full mount but Espiro doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The crowd cheers as Espiro lands an impressive looking overhand right. Franchel doesn't seem phased though.
Espiro drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Espiro, as that shot connected.
Espiro fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Ares Espiro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Espiro throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Franchel with the counter takedown but Espiro avoids it easily.
Espiro throws a hook but Franchel blocks it.
Franchel fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Espiro looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Franchel clinches.

Espiro breaks the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Franchel steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Espiro.
Franchel slips a jab from Espiro.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Franchel! But no joy.

Franchel decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Espiro pushes Franchel off but Franchel dives into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ares Espiro showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Franchel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Vincent Franchel was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
