Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Silas Monk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rickety Cricket (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monk's entrance music is Ave Maria. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Silas Monk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rickety Cricket!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jonathan Paton and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monk throws a quick inside leg kick.
Cricket throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cricket has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A decent looking cross lands there for Monk.
A good leg kick by Monk.
A thudding body kick lands there by Monk!
Cricket tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Monk paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Monk throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cricket stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Monk looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Monk ducks under a wild hook from Cricket.
Monk lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Monk slips a straight right by Cricket.

It looks like Rickety Cricket has been cut.
Monk stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cricket walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Cricket takes a swing at Monk's ribcage but misses.
Cricket takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

and Cricket counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Cricket wants to clinch up but Monk keeps it at a distance.
Monk turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Monk.
Good leg kick by Monk there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Monk throws a leg kick which misses Cricket's front leg but catches the back leg as Cricket tries to avoid it.
A punch lands to the side of Cricket 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Monk just misses with a punch to the body.
Monk misses with the combination.
Monk ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Monk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Monk lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Cricket bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Monk's head.
An inside leg kick lands from Monk.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Monk thumps Cricket with a low kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Monk tests Cricket's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Monk, as that shot connected.


That has opened up Rickety Cricket's cut even more.
Cricket misses the body punch
and Monk counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Monk throws a leg kick which misses Cricket's front leg but catches the back leg as Cricket tries to avoid it.

Monk thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Cricket if he has to take too many more of those.

Monk waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Cricket. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Cricket to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cricket can do anything to dispel that myth.

Monk engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Cricket keeping moving, preventing Monk from controlling successfully.
Monk working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cricket's head.
Monk trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Monk pushing down on Cricket's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

You can see that Cricket has visibly slowed down as a result of the leg kicks

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Monk missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Cricket wants to control but Monk is keeping busy.
Cricket wants to control the action here but instead Monk manages to pass to full mount!
Monk throws some wild stikes that Cricket manages to avoid easily.
Cricket really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cricket tries to hold on but Monk pushes him away.

The cut above Rickety Cricket's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Rickety Cricket's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Silas Monk!
Silas Monk was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
