Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Zharkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Haack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrei Zharkov could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Andre Haack's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrei Zharkov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andre Haack!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Reed Andrews and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by Haack.

Haack gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Zharkov trying to control but Haack is working from the bottom.
Haack utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Zharkov wants to control from the top but Haack keeps moving.

Zharkov drops back looking for a leg! Haack is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Haack manages to kick Zharkov off! Zharkov jumps back into Haack's guard.

Zharkov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zharkov has gone for a leg lock! Haack slips out almost immediately though and dives into Zharkov's guard.

Zharkov lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Zharkov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Haack knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Zharkov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Zharkov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Zharkov thows a huge punch but Haack dodges it nicely.

Haack does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Horrible takedown attempt by Zharkov or perhaps it was just good defense by Haack, which made it look bad.

Haack feints and then cracks Zharkov's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Zharkov down.
