Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Katu Partio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin McCormick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Partio connects with a high kick.
McCormick tries to clinch but Partio is having none of it.
McCormick takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Partio gets tackled into the cage by McCormick. McCormick maintains the clinch.

McCormick gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Partio wants to control but McCormick is keeping busy and won't allow it.
McCormick is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Let's hope that McCormick has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Partio is doing well to control the position and prevent McCormick from advancing to side control.

It looks like McCormick might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

McCormick rushes Partio and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

McCormick has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Partio avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Katu Partio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin McCormick.
McCormick is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Partio pulls him back up using the underhooks.
McCormick has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Partio after a bit of a struggle.
McCormick drops down looking for an ankle pick but Partio pulls his leg out and moves away.

McCormick turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and McCormick manages to end up in side control.
McCormick takes a little break here. Partio wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Good leg kick by Partio there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
