PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Melcone Aisa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Cabrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Melcone Aisa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucas Cabrera!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aisa throws a series of punches but Cabrera moves out of range.
Cabrera looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Aisa avoids the head kick by Cabrera.
Aisa feints and then cracks Cabrera's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cabrera down.
Aisa throws a series of punches but Cabrera moves out of range.
Aisa has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Crunch! Cabrera slams his shin into Aisa's torso.
Aisa on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Cabrera throws a big shot that misses.
Cabrera lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Cabrera lands with a hook. Aisa tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Cabrera pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Aisa throws a hook but Cabrera blocks it.
Aisa stalks Cabrera and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cabrera's face. Cabrera staggers backwards, shaken.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Aisa dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Cabrera shoots for a takedown but Aisa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Aisa checks a low kick from Cabrera.
Cabrera has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Cabrera there as he acknowledges the shot.
Aisa throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cabrera stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Aisa scores with a punch to the head.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Aisa misses with an uppercut.
Cabrera has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Aisa finds it's way round the side to connect with Cabrera's head.

Some bone on bone action there as Aisa checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Cabrera moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Cabrera connects with an inside leg kick.
Cabrera dodges the punch combination from Aisa.
Aisa misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cabrera.
Cabrera drops his hands momentarily and Aisa takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
A left lands for Aisa.
Aisa looks to score with a jab to the body but Cabrera is just out of range.
A combination from Aisa does no damage.
Cabrera scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Melcone Aisa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aisa tries to bum rush Cabrera with a series of wild strikes but Cabrera uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cabrera lands with an overhand left.
Aisa misses with a looping right.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cabrera throws a body shot but no joy.
An attempted straight right counter from Aisa misses the target.
Aisa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Cabrera shoots in and bounces Aisa off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Cabrera controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Cabrera postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Aisa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Cabrera trying to control but Aisa is working from the bottom.
Cabrera is looking to work some ground and pound but Aisa has wrist control.
Aisa pulls Cabrera in close to prevent any damage.
Aisa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Cabrera working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Aisa looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Cabrera loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Aisa is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Cabrera takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Aisa misses with an uppercut.
Cabrera staying out of range there.
Cabrera with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Cabrera throws a leg kick but Aisa sees it coming and checks it nicely.
It looked like Aisa wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Cabrera has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Nice defenses there by Aisa.
Cabrera on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Cabrera connects with an inside leg kick.
Aisa cracks Cabrera with an open hand slap.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Cabrera.

Aisa throws a jab when Cabrera was well out of range.
Aisa throws a series of strikes that have Cabrera backpedaling.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cabrera lands a head kick!
Cabrera connects with a leg kick. Aisa looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Aisa throws a shot to the body.
Cabrera connects with a solid leg kick.
Aisa misses with the combination.
Aisa misses with a double jab.
Aisa takes a swing at Cabrera's ribcage but misses.
Aisa clobbers Cabrera with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Aisa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cabrera keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cabrera fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Aisa manages to avoid it.
Aisa misses with a double jab.
And Cabrera tries to counter it with a takedown but Aisa pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Cabrera fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Aisa is out of range.
Cabrera lands a jab.
Cabrera jabs at Aisa's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Melcone Aisa dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Cabrera ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aisa moves away.
Aisa throws a nice looking combination but Cabrera bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Aisa takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Aisa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Some bone on bone action there as Cabrera checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Aisa throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cabrera sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Melcone Aisa is winning the standup battle so far.
Aisa misses the shot to the body.
Aisa throws a jab when Cabrera was well out of range.
Cabrera does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Aisa moves out of range of the leg kick from Cabrera.
Aisa misses with a series of wild punches.
Cabrera slips under a jab from Aisa.
Cabrera connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Aisa throws a lazy right hand but Cabrera sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Aisa throws a series of punches but Cabrera moves out of range.
Aisa throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Cabrera steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Aisa.
Aisa misses with a double jab

and Cabrera decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Aisa's guard.

Aisa has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Cabrera is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Aisa.
Aisa is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aisa sneaks back into half guard.
Cabrera thows a huge punch but Aisa dodges it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Aisa tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Cabrera has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Aisa prevents any damage by holding on tight.

Aisa is rocked!
Aisa takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Cabrera's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lucas Cabrera!
Lucas Cabrera decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
