Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Martin Riggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dmitry Petrenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petrenko has chosen Bro Hymm/ Pennywise as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dmitry Petrenko!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrenko dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Riggs. That did some damage!
Petrenko is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Petrenko fails with the takedown
and Riggs counters with a left to the body.
Riggs has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Bruize Brothers in the buildup to the fight.
Petrenko wants to clinch.
Riggs ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A nice inside leg kick there by Riggs. That's going to slow Petrenko down.
Petrenko shoots in but Riggs avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Petrenko misses with a jab to the body
enabling Riggs to counter with a crisp jab.
Riggs lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Petrenko at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petrenko throws a hook but Riggs blocks it.
Riggs is looking to chop away at Petrenko's legs.
Petrenko on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Dmitry Petrenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Riggs does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Petrenko tries to clinch but Riggs is having none of it.
Petrenko checks the leg kick nicely there.
Martin Riggs is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Petrenko lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Petrenko scores with a jab to the body.
Riggs has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Riggs there as he acknowledges the shot.
Riggs lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Petrenko at a distance.
Petrenko scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Petrenko blocks a leg kick.
Riggs throws a low kick, looking for Petrenko's leg but Petrenko calmly moves out of range.
Riggs chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Petrenko stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Riggs.
Petrenko throws a low kick, looking for Riggs's leg but Riggs calmly moves out of range.
Riggs circles away from the clinch attempt.
Riggs lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Petrenko clinches up with Riggs and pushes him back against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Riggs manages to break the clinch.
Riggs slips a jab from Petrenko.

Petrenko gets a clinch.
Petrenko is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Petrenko has Riggs pressed against the cage, preventing Riggs from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Riggs lands a hook to the side of the head.
Riggs misses with a punch to the body.
Riggs working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Riggs blocks the elbow strike.

Riggs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Riggs throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Petrenko scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Riggs gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Petrenko.
Riggs lands a front kick.
Petrenko throws a left and a right that both miss
and Riggs counters with a body kick.
Petrenko uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Riggs.

Petrenko moves into the clinch.
Riggs is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Riggs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Petrenko checks a low kick from Riggs.
Petrenko checks the leg kick nicely there.
Riggs throws a solid leg kick but Petrenko takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Riggs.
Riggs scores with a decent looking hook.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Riggs connects with a body shot that sends Petrenko's belly button to the back.
Petrenko misses with a hook. Riggs ducked under it nicely.
Petrenko sizes up Riggs with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Petrenko moves out of range of the leg kick from Riggs.
Petrenko cracks Riggs with an open hand slap.
Riggs's jab looks to have found its range, popping Petrenko under the eye.
Riggs throws a head kick but Petrenko moves out of range.
Petrenko flicks out a counter leg kick but Riggs steps away.
A big left from Riggs misses.
Petrenko avoids a punch combination nicely.
Riggs lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Petrenko fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Riggs, pushing him back against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Riggs working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Riggs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Petrenko, right into the meat.

Petrenko drives through and clinches with Riggs against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Riggs breaks from the clinch.
Riggs moves into range and connects with a jab.


Petrenko is rocked!
Riggs ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Petrenko's jaw. Petrenko's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Riggs does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Martin Riggs!
