PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Freddy White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felix Sandoval (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sandoval has chosen Overseer - Slayed as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 4, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Felix Sandoval!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sandoval shoots in looking for a takedown. White tries to sprawl out of it but Sandoval keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. White manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sandoval misses with a double jab.
White is looking to slow Sandoval down with leg kicks.
White tries to land a leg kick but Sandoval saw it coming and moves away.

White gets caught flat footed, as Sandoval shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sandoval trying to control the position from guard on top but White is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

White knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sandoval on the ground.

Sandoval throws a strike aimed at the side of White's head but White avoids it well.
White is trying to buck Sandoval off.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Sandoval looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Sandoval in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Sandoval tries for a kimura but White is defending well.
Sandoval sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but White is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

A lull in the action here as Sandoval stalls from top position.
White pushes Sandoval away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sandoval gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Sandoval connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused White some visible discomfort.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

You can see the frustration on White's face as Sandoval controls the position.
Sandoval is looking to take a break and control but White is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
White is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
White scores with a head kick. Sandoval tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Freddy White is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sandoval.

Sandoval closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! White's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sandoval tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but White was well out of range. Poor timing from Sandoval.
White tries to counter by clinching up but Sandoval breaks away and moves out of range.
White scores with a head kick. Sandoval tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Felix Sandoval seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A looping hook to the body misses from White. Sandoval does a little dance to reset his feet.

White throws a solid leg kick but Sandoval takes the impact on his shin and smiles at White.
Sandoval has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

White tries to kick Sandoval off but Sandoval keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

White is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

White is in a horrible position here. Sandoval smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Let's hope that Sandoval has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Sandoval is landing with some decent strikes but White is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sandoval cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
White in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Felix Sandoval showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

White on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if White tries to get out of the position.
White is looking to stand up but Sandoval isn't so interested in that idea.
White can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sandoval controls the pace.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sandoval loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Sandoval lands a nice shot to the body.
White connects with a body shot that sends Sandoval's belly button to the back.
White plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

We've been told by White's head coaches at Strong like Butterfly that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

White throws a chopping leg kick but Sandoval manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Sandoval looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Sandoval is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but White is defending well.
White prevents the takedown attempt.

Felix Sandoval is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
White tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Sandoval's elbow.
White looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Sandoval has White pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. White manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

White lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
White swings away with an uppercut that misses.

White escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Freddy White is winning the standup battle so far.
Sandoval blocks a leg kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
White throws a lazy right hand but Sandoval sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
White ducks right into an uppercut from Sandoval.
White swings and misses with a hook to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Freddy White showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Sandoval has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
