PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Denis Hussey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pal Ohmsford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Denis Hussey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Pal Ohmsford!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hussey dives in for a single leg takedown but Ohmsford sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Ohmsford throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hussey was covering up waiting for the punch and Ohmsford finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Ohmsford looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hussey not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Hussey is looking for a triangle but Ohmsford pushes his legs off easily.
Hussey throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Hussey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hussey is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ohmsford seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hussey wants to stand up but Ohmsford is controlling him.

Ohmsford stays in close to Hussey's body and controls the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ohmsford fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hussey is looking to counter with head kicks.
Ohmsford stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ohmsford wants it to stay on the feet.
Hussey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ohmsford as he avoids it easily.
Ohmsford lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Denis Hussey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hussey tries for a takedown but Ohmsford sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hussey is breathing heavily.
Hussey throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ohmsford circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hussey tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ohmsford defends well and Hussey ends up having to push Ohmsford into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

and Ohmsford counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hussey won't be happy with that.
Ohmsford takes a little break here. Hussey wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Hussey is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Ohmsford is putting a hurting on Hussey here, landing some big shots from side control.
Ohmsford throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Hussey could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ohmsford slows the pace down.
Ohmsford in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
You can see the frustration on Hussey's face as Ohmsford controls the position.
Hussey takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
A lull in the action here as Ohmsford stalls from top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Let's hope that Ohmsford has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ohmsford stands up and beckons Hussey to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hussey throws a right and a left that Ohmsford avoids nicely.
And Ohmsford tries to counter it with a takedown but Hussey pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Ohmsford looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hussey seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pal Ohmsford dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hussey shoots for a takedown but Ohmsford saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ohmsford tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Hussey throws a nice looking combination but Ohmsford bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Ohmsford counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ohmsford.

Ohmsford is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hussey can't fight it off and eventually Ohmsford manages to take the fight to the floor. Hussey looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hussey tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ohmsford controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ohmsford is in close to Hussey's body, working some short punches and elbows.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ohmsford tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Hussey shoots in but no luck this time.

Hussey lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ohmsford backs up against the cage.

and Ohmsford counters with a left and a right that stings Hussey.
Hussey shoots in for a takedown but Ohmsford shows good takedown defense.

Ohmsford shoots in and bounces Hussey off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hussey is looking to stand up but Ohmsford isn't so interested in that idea.
Ohmsford not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ohmsford pushes down on Hussey's leg and manages to get into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ohmsford's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Hussey throws a body kick that misses.
Hussey connects with a leg kick. Ohmsford looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Ohmsford darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Pal Ohmsford showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Hussey throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hussey tries to close the distance and clinch but Ohmsford swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hussey moves in looking to clinch but Ohmsford pushes him off.
Ohmsford shoots in for a double leg but Hussey sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Ohmsford counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Still in half guard, Ohmsford seems content to control.
Hussey wants to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ohmsford is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hussey defends it well.

Ohmsford tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Denis Hussey has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hussey is looking to improve his position but Ohmsford isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pal Ohmsford comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Ohmsford winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
