And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Otso Koski!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monroe throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Monroe takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Koski misses with a looping right.
Monroe keeps the fight on the outside.
Koski keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Monroe.
Koski connects with a solid leg kick.
Koski lands a lovely overhand right.
Koski tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Monroe is able to avoid easily.
Monroe keeps the fight on the outside.

Monroe shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Koski is trying to defend but Monroe finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Koski is looking to improve his position.
Koski looks like he's trying to stand up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Monroe in particular looking to stall.

Koski won't allow Monroe to pass to mount.

Koski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monroe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Koski is looking to get back to is feet but Monroe passes into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Monroe postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Koski is trying to control Monroe's posture but Monroe avoids it.
Monroe connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Koski some visible discomfort.
Koski tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Monroe connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Koski tries to reverse the position but Monroe maintains control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Koski can do anything to dispel that myth.
Monroe lands a big shot to the head and Koski winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Ricky Monroe!
