Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Griggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Harris has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chad Griggs!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griggs lands a jab to the nose.
Harris throws a good cross that connects.
Harris bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A chopping leg kick lands by Harris.
Harris buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Griggs misses with a wild body shot.
Harris is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Griggs.
Griggs on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Harris. Harris obviously looking to wear him down.
Harris throws a body punch but Griggs moves out of range.

Harris instigates a clinch.
Our sources have told us that Harris has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Griggs has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Harris after a bit of a struggle.
Harris doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Griggs tries to break free but Harris pushes him back against the cage.

Harris parries the strikes from Griggs easily there. Griggs is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Harris to escape.
Harris takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Harris is working to avoid the ground and pound but Griggs connects with a decent elbow.
Griggs looks up at the clock and then as Harris takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Griggs smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Griggs throws an elbow but Harris slips to the side and avoids it well.
Harris sneaks back into half guard.

Griggs wants to pass to mount but Harris is defending the position.
Harris moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Harris manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Griggs manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Griggs is pulling down on Harris's head. It's preventing any offense from Harris, at least for the moment.
Griggs lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Harris is on top in guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Griggs lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Harris at a distance.

Harris breaks the clinch.
Griggs changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Harris tries to avoid it but Griggs manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Harris to the ground. Harris escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Griggs shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Harris's guard.

Harris's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griggs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Griggs must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
