Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gary Ridgway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Van Der Sluijs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gary Ridgway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Van Der Sluijs!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Der Sluijs blocks a head kick by Ridgway.
Gary Ridgway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ridgway thows a leg kick but Van Der Sluijs checks it
and Van Der Sluijs counters with a nice leg kick.
Ridgway uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Van Der Sluijs.
Ridgway feinted with a counter takedown.
Ridgway comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
A slapping leg kick lands for Ridgway.
A telegraphed right hand from Ridgway misses the target.
Van Der Sluijs flicks out a counter leg kick but Ridgway steps away.

Ridgway throws a looping overhand right but Van Der Sluijs ducks down to avoid it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Van Der Sluijs! But no joy.
Van Der Sluijs is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ridgway is looking to take a break and control but Van Der Sluijs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Van Der Sluijs takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Ridgway has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ridgway wants to control the pace but Van Der Sluijs is squirming around nicely.

Ridgway is trying to control the action in half guard but Van Der Sluijs is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ridgway, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
