The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mata tries to sprawl but Iowa drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Mata wants to improve his position but Iowa is controlling well.

Mata looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Iowa pushes past his half guard into mount!

Iowa looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Mata regains half guard.
Iowa wants to take a breather but Mata is having none of it.
Iowa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mata. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Iowa trying to pass the guard but Mata defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mata has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Iowa. Oh but Mata has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Iowa goes limp - he's gone! Mata jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
