Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Elbert Walls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phillip Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walls misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Johnson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johnson lands in his opponent's guard.

Walls bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.

Walls might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Walls gets to his feet. Johnson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Walls could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Walls closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Johnson's guard.

Walls drops back looking for a leg! Johnson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Johnson manages to kick Walls off! Walls jumps back into Johnson's guard.

Walls shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.
A looping hook to the body misses from Walls. Johnson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Walls tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Walls takes a swing at Johnson's ribcage but misses.
Walls shoots in looking for a takedown but Johnson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walls's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A little jabbing left from Johnson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walls shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnson as he avoids it easily.

Johnson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Walls manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Phillip Johnson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Johnson is working an open guard so Walls takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Johnson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Walls tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Johnson is in Walls's guard.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Walls wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment.
Walls lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walls gets to his feet - Johnson follows without any prompting.

Johnson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Walls to the ground. Johnson is now in Walls's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Walls breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That was a close second round but I would say that Elbert Walls will probably get the nod.

Walls shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Johnson sprawls well. Johnson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Walls gets slowly back to his feet.

Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
