PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lambo Aventador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mir is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Amazing- Kanye West. Lambo Aventador had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lambo Aventador!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aventador misses with a hook.
Nice sprawl there from Aventador as Mir shoots in.

Aventador gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mir trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Aventador keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully.
Aventador can't keep his opponent in guard - Mir advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aventador is refusing to be controlled, as Mir sits in half guard.

Mir is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Aventador is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Aventador is looking for a sweep.
The strikes coming from Mir are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Aventador is looking to regain half guard here but Mir keeps moving and retains side control.

Mir is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mir scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Mir seems to be looking for submissions.
Aventador wants to improve his position but Mir is controlling well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Aventador misses with a jab to the body
and Mir counters with a straight right hand.

Mir closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mir lands in his opponent's guard.
Aventador looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Mir has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Aventador is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Aventador scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Mir avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Mir shoots in looking for a takedown but Aventador manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mir's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Mir takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Aventador tries to clinch there but Mir circles away.
Aventador jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Aventador scores with a nice right hand.
Aventador lands with an uppercut that bounces Mir off the cage and back into range.
Mir darts in looking for a takedown but Aventador gets double underhooks and turns Mir into the cage.
It looked like Aventador wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Aventador misses with a few strikes there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mir shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Aventador sprawls well. Aventador wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mir gets slowly back to his feet.
Lambo Aventador has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.

And Mir tries to counter it with a takedown but Aventador pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Mir has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.

Aventador throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mir sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mir tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Aventador fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mir on the side of the head.
Aventador throws a looping overhand right but Mir ducks down to avoid it.
Aventador is looking to clinch but Mir is avoiding it.
Aventador tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mir manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mir swats away the attempt to clinch by Aventador.

Mir moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Lambo Aventador seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mir on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Mir pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Aventador changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mir throws a poor cross that misses
and Aventador counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Frank Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Aventador tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mir was well out of range. Poor timing from Aventador.

Mir shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Aventador is trying to defend but Mir finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
