Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ground Guru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patches Melone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patches Melone will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Patches Melone!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guru fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Guru throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Melone's waist but Melone gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Guru off to one side.
Guru shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Melone tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ground Guru. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Guru fails with a takedown attempt.
Guru gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Melone counters with a single leg into guard. Guru didn't expect that.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Melone wants to pass the guard but Guru is keeping the position.

Melone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Melone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Guru has his foot on Melone's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Melone works his way back into a safe position though.

Guru wants to sweep here but Melone controlling him for the moment.

Melone drops back looking for a leg! Guru is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Guru manages to kick Melone off! Melone jumps back into Guru's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Guru working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Melone doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Guru is tightening it up a little... Melone has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Melone reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Melone taps out! Nice BJJ there by Guru!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Ground Guru!
In his post fight interview, Ground Guru started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
