The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
It looks like Roy Nelson has been cut.
We've been hearing reports that Santos has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Nelson tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Santos cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nelson looks to land a body kick but Santos moved away.
Santos throws a low kick but Nelson moves out of range easily.
Nelson tries to counter by closing the distance.
Nelson takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Santos misses with a head kick.
Nelson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Santos counters with a stiff right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos cracks Nelson with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Nelson is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Nelson is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9,10! He's out! Nelson could not beat the count!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Gustavo Santos!
