The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Simmons has taken the fight to the clinch.

Simmons has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Kuro clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Kuro is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Simmons is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kuro is aware though and is defending well.
Kuro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Simmons swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Simmons had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kuro defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kuro tries to free his leg and advance position but Simmons is retaining full guard.

Simmons is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kuro has his hands clasped together but Simmons extends and breaks Kuro's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Simmons.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Fred Simmons!
A less than humble Fred Simmons misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
Kazekage Kuro spoke after the fight, saying 'Ahhhhh crap!'.
