The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edwards moves into the clinch successfully.

Edwards wants the takedown. Gates is fighting it off but Edwards persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gates's guard against the cage.
Edwards looking to sit in guard and control but Gates gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Edwards can do anything to dispel that myth.
Edwards is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gates is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Edwards tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gates wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gates takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Edwards has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Well Edwards has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
