PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lawrance Gerltz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Castor Rollins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gerltz's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Rage Against The Machine - Bull On Parade. Castor Rollins told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lawrance Gerltz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Castor Rollins!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gerltz throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rollins makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rollins pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gerltz is out of range and Rollins settles back down.
Gerltz tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Rollins manages to circle out of the way.
Rollins takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Nice jab there from Gerltz.
Rollins wants to slow Gerltz down by chopping away at his legs.
Rollins lands with a shot to the body.
Rollins connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Gerltz chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Gerltz shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Rollins dodges the punch combination from Gerltz.
Rollins's coach down at Sali was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rollins's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Rollins jabs at Gerltz's body.

Rollins is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gerltz's half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rollins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gerltz's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rollins trying to control from half guard but Gerltz is working away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rollins not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Gerltz is not content to let Rollins control the position.
Rollins passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Gerltz!
Rollins thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Gerltz is wriggling around trying to escape.

Rollins throwing strikes here but Gerltz is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Gerltz tries to reverse the position but Rollins maintains control.
Gerltz wants to hold on but Rollins pushes him away.
Rollins lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

It looks like Lawrance Gerltz has been cut.
Gerltz is squirming around, avoiding Rollins's attempts to control the action.
Rollins working the ground and pound effectively.
Gerltz is trying desperately to improve position.
Rollins unloading with bombs!

Jeez, Lawrance Gerltz's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Lawrance Gerltz's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Castor Rollins!
After the fight, Castor Rollins was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
