PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Taisto Perälä (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tuke Hong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Taisto Perälä!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tuke Hong!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perälä lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hong takes a step back to recover.
Hong has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Hong with a jab.
Hong checks a low kick from Perälä.
It seemed like Hong was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Hong misses with a kick to the body.
Perälä lands a nice shot that snaps Hong's head back.
Perälä connects with a body shot.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Perälä, as that shot connected.

Hong takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

and Hong counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Perälä keeping moving, preventing Hong from controlling successfully.

Perälä is looking for a triangle but Hong pushes his legs off easily.
Perälä lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Hong controls Perälä momentarily but Perälä frees himself.
Perälä trying to control but Hong is working from the bottom.
Hong trying to keep a closed guard but Perälä is proving a slippery customer.
Perälä throws a big right hand that misses.
Hong looking for a sweep. Not yet Hong, not yet.
Perälä wants to control from the top but Hong keeps moving.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hong is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A slow jab from Hong misses its intended target.
A nice leg kick lands there from Perälä.
Hong ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hong throws a right and a left that Perälä avoids nicely.
A bone on bone clash there as Perälä blocks the leg kick.
Perälä throws a looping overhand right but Hong ducks down to avoid it.
Hong tries to clinch up but Perälä circles away and keeps his distance.
Perälä throws a nice outside leg kick.
Perälä throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Hong jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Hong blocks a leg kick.
Perälä lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Hong misses with a straight right.
Perälä looks for the body kick but Hong saw that one coming.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Perälä, as that shot connected.
Perälä looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Hong takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Nice uppercut there from Perälä.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hong takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Perälä is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hong.
Perälä waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hong.
Hong is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Perälä misses with a low kick.
Perälä walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hong checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Perälä fakes the leg kick and cracks Hong in the body.
Perälä tries to work over Hong's front leg with a kick but Hong checks it.
Hong takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Perälä thumps Hong with a low kick.
Perälä ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hong moves away.
Perälä lands with an uppercut that bounces Hong off the ropes and back into range.
Perälä throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Perälä is looking to slow Hong down with leg kicks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taisto Perälä dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Hong closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Perälä's guard.
Perälä trying to keep a closed guard but Hong is proving a slippery customer.

Perälä has his foot on Hong's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hong works his way back into a safe position though.
Hong is working Perälä over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hong is looking to work some ground and pound but Perälä has wrist control.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hong's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Perälä is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Perälä has his foot on Hong's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hong works his way back into a safe position though.
Hong throwing strikes from guard but Perälä blocks nicely.
Hong stands up over Perälä, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hong in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Tuke Hong has got the better of the ground game so far.
Perälä manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hong manages to get himself to full guard.

Hong wants to sweep here but Perälä controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Perälä throwing strikes but missing.
Hong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hong pushes a forearm under Perälä's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Perälä is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tuke Hong!
A very excited looking Tuke Hong made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
