PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Krause (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bonald Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott has chosen Hell's Bells as his entrance music. Bonald Scott will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bruno Krause!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bonald Scott!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krause lands with a shot to the body.
Krause looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Krause sets himself, and Scott steps forward looking for the clinch! Krause avoids it this time.
Krause looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Scott tries to clinch but Krause is having none of it.
Scott throws a body punch but Krause moves out of range.
Krause avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Krause ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Scott tries to clinch up but Krause circles away and keeps his distance.
Krause looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Scott tries to clinch there but Krause circles away.
Scott throws a leg kick
and Krause counters with a body kick that stops Scott in his tracks momentarily.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Scott has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Krause looks to land a body kick but Scott moved away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krause misses with a kick to the body.
Scott unleashes a big counter combination but Krause bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
A looping hook to the body misses from Krause. Scott does a little dance to reset his feet.
No joy there for Krause, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Krause fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Scott looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Scott throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Krause counters with a nice kick to the body.

Scott feints and as Krause raises his hands in defense, Scott changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Scott distracts Krause with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Scott has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Scott stands and throws Krause's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Krause!
Scott misses with a head shot.

Scott pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Scott moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Krause has worked his arm free - good work by Krause!
Scott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Krause keeps working.
Krause gets back to half guard.
Scott trying to control from Krause's half guard. Krause has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Scott wants to control from the top but Krause keeps moving.
Scott is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Krause pulls Scott in close to prevent any damage.
Scott trying to control but Krause is working from the bottom.
Krause avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Krause controls Scott momentarily but Scott frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scott working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Scott works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Scott trying to mount his opponent but Krause defends it.
Krause might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Scott throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Scott moves nicely into side control.
Krause is not content to let Scott control the position.
You can see the frustration on Krause's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bonald Scott will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Krause tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Scott was well out of range. Poor timing from Krause.
Scott throws a leg kick but Krause moved away.
Krause throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Krause lands a nice hook to Scott's body. Scott takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Krause buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Bruno Krause is winning the standup battle so far.
Krause is looking to chop away at Scott's legs.
Scott does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Scott shoots and misses
and Krause counters with a nice kick to the body.
Scott rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Krause moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Krause misses the target.
Bonald Scott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Krause counters with a slapping leg kick.
No luck for Scott with that takedown attempt.
Scott shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Krause defends it nicely.
Bruno Krause has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bonald Scott.

Good exchange - Krause coming out on top.
Scott takes one to the chin there.
Some wild striking there from Scott.
Scott tries to clinch but Krause moves out of range.
It appears Krause was looking to counter with a kick there.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Krause.
Scott tries a quick counter leg kick but Krause is wise to it.
Scott throws a nice looking combination but Krause bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Krause throws a nice inside leg kick.
Krause throws a half hearted mid kick.
Scott shoots in for a double leg but Krause sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Krause jabs at Scott's body.
Krause lands with a thumping leg kick.
Scott closes the distance looking to clinch
and Krause counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Krause throws a body kick that misses.
Scott ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Scott shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Krause lands with a hook. Scott tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

A body shot lands from Krause.

Scott crunches a lovely knee into Krause's ribcage.

Krause lands with a light punch inside.

Scott pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Krause clobbers Scott with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Krause swats away the attempt to clinch by Scott.
It appears Krause was looking to counter with a kick there.
Krause tries to land a front kick but Scott steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Scott thuds a left hand into Krause's body.
Scott throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Krause counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Krause misses with an attempted mid kick.
Krause fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Scott manages to avoid it.
Scott swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Krause avoids the body shot from Scott.
Krause tried to counter with a leg kick but Scott avoided it.
Krause looks to land a body kick but Scott moved away.
Scott tries to clinch but Krause moves out of range.
Krause appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Scott shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Krause swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Krause looks to score with a jab to the body but Scott is just out of range.

Scott is looking to advance position but Krause has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Krause misses with a shot to the body
and Scott counters with a series of strikes. Krause will be more careful next time no doubt.
Scott lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Krause at a distance.
Krause changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Scott steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Krause.
Scott connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Scott staying out of range there.
Krause on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Scott. Scott obviously looking to wear him down.
Krause lets loose with a powerful body kick. Scott will feel that in the morning.
Scott throws a combination. Krause tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Scott moves out of range as Krause strikes.

Scott moves into range and clinches up with Krause.

Krause stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Scott throws a punch but it's blocked by Krause.

Scott escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Krause throws a hook to the side of Scott's head but Scott sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Krause swings for the body but Scott moves out of range.
Krause tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Scott is able to avoid easily.
Scott now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Krause fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Scott manages to avoid it.
Scott moves out of range of the body kick.
Krause lands a nice shot to the body.
Krause fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Scott has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Krause swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Krause fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Scott.

Krause throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Scott.

Scott appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Krause tried to counter with a leg kick but Scott avoided it.
Scott shoots in looking for a takedown. Krause tries to sprawl out of it but Scott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Krause manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Scott forces Krause back against the cage and clinches.

and Krause counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bruno Krause showed his dominance in that final round.
