Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between De Bruyne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hendo Riggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Bruyne has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, De Bruyne!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hendo Riggs!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruyne sizes up Riggs with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Bruyne throws a good cross that connects.
Riggs takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Riggs throws a poor cross that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Bruyne connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Riggs scores with a body shot.
Bruyne tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Riggs was well out of range. Poor timing from Bruyne.
Bruyne throws a leg kick but Riggs checks it.
Riggs throws a push kick but Bruyne slaps the foot to one side.
We've been informed that Riggs has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Bruyne does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
And Riggs tries to counter it with a takedown but Bruyne pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Bruyne lands a nice shot that snaps Riggs's head back.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Riggs feints a jab promting Bruyne to slip. Riggs then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Bruyne slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

We've been told by Bruyne's head coaches at Green Line that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Riggs thows a body kick. Bruyne tries to catch it but that hurt him.

It looked like Bruyne wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Riggs takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Riggs lands with a straight right. Bruyne didn't see that one coming.
Bruyne lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Riggs explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bruyne lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Riggs has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Riggs and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Riggs tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

And Bruyne counters with a quick kick to the body but Riggs blocks it.

Bruyne swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Riggs.
Riggs throws the kick towards the body but Bruyne avoids it.
Bruyne thuds his right hand into Riggs's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Bruyne fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Riggs has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Bruyne takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Riggs walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Riggs is still on wobbly legs! Can Bruyne finish him?
Bruyne fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Riggs has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Riggs's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Riggs misses the jab.
Bruyne pounces like a tiger and cracks Riggs with a vicious hook! Riggs is down but not out! Bruyne follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
