PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Robert Sito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azar Qasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sito kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is DMX - What's my name?. Qasi has chosen For Whom The Bell Tolls as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robert Sito!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Azar Qasi!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Qasi.

Qasi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Qasi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sito knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Qasi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Qasi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sito is looking to regain half guard here but Qasi keeps moving and retains side control.
Sito avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Qasi.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Qasi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Sito's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Qasi on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sito. Qasi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Qasi shoots in looking for a takedown but Sito manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Qasi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Qasi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Qasi shoots in looking for a takedown. Sito tries to sprawl out of it but Qasi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sito manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Qasi shoots for a double leg takedown but Sito sprawls well. He's pushed Qasi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Robert Sito has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Azar Qasi.

Sito bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Qasi tries to free his leg and advance position but Sito is retaining full guard.

Qasi drops back looking for a leg! Sito is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sito manages to kick Qasi off! Qasi jumps back into Sito's guard.
Sito is trying to keep Qasi in close.

Qasi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sito knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Qasi on the ground.
Qasi stops Sito from standing up.
Qasi trying to control but Sito is working from the bottom.
Sito pulls Qasi in to control the position.

Qasi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sito manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Qasi has Sito in his guard.

Qasi is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Qasi keeping full guard, as Sito tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Qasi has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Sito should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Qasi has tightened it up now! Sito should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Azar Qasi!
A relieved looking Azar Qasi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
