PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dimentiy Boykin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Proctor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boykin comes into the arena with Пересмотри blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 26 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dimentiy Boykin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Proctor!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boykin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Proctor swivels and escapes.
Proctor leaves Boykin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Proctor connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Proctor has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dimentiy Boykin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Boykin rushes Proctor and presses him up against the cage.

Boykin manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Proctor seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Proctor has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Boykin is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boykin is looking for a triangle but Proctor pushes his legs off easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Boykin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Proctor defends well.
Proctor tries to stand but Boykin is controlling from the bottom.
Proctor wants to control from the top but Boykin keeps moving.

Boykin is trying to keep Proctor in close.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Proctor stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Proctor wants it to stay on the feet.
Proctor only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Proctor slaps away a takedown attempt from Boykin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Boykin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Boykin misses with a takedown attempt - Proctor sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Proctor misses with a double jab.
Proctor will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Boykin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Proctor is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Boykin seems to be looking for submissions.
Proctor wants to get back to his feet.
Boykin wants to take a breather but Proctor is having none of it.

Proctor manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Boykin keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Proctor misses with a short punch on the inside.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Proctor is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Boykin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Proctor after a bit of a struggle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dimentiy Boykin will probably get the nod.
That's time! Boykin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Proctor misses with a hook. Boykin ducked under it nicely.
Boykin shoots in for a double leg but Proctor sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dimentiy Boykin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Boykin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Proctor connects with a good right hand that stumbles Boykin. Boykin circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Michael Proctor seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Proctor counters with a straight right hand.
Boykin avoids the body shot from Proctor.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Proctor throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Boykin shoots in and drives through. Proctor sprawls well.
Dimentiy Boykin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Boykin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Proctor pinned against the cage. Proctor gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Proctor, as that shot connected.
Boykin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Proctor connects with a right hand. Boykin shakes it off.
Boykin wants to clinch up but Proctor keeps it at a distance.
Boykin shoots in looking for a takedown but Proctor manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Boykin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Proctor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters circling - Boykin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Boykin with a poor takedown
and Proctor counters with a good, hard body kick but Boykin shrugs it off.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Proctor connects with a body shot that sends Boykin's belly button to the back.
Boykin shoots in for a takedown but Proctor shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Proctor connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Boykin's hands.
Proctor misses with a head kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Proctor staying out of range there.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Proctor enables Boykin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Proctor manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Boykin wants to control from the top but Proctor keeps moving.
Boykin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Proctor is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Boykin throws an elbow that misses. Proctor uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Boykin's guard. Nice move by Proctor!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Proctor controls from within his opponent's guard.
Proctor wants to stand and escape but instead Boykin has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Proctor wants to stand up but Boykin is controlling him.
Boykin trying to control the position from guard on top but Proctor is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boykin pushes down on Proctor's leg and manages to get into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Proctor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Boykin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Proctor but Proctor pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Proctor scores with a decent looking hook.
Proctor displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Boykin.
Boykin throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Proctor to counter with a crisp jab.

Proctor lands a big head kick that sends Boykin tumbling to the mat! Proctor takes a step backwards and waves Boykin back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Boykin dives in and grabs Proctor's left leg, looking for a takedown. Proctor pushes down on Boykin's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dimentiy Boykin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boykin tries to bum rush Proctor with a series of wild strikes but Proctor uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Boykin.
Proctor shapes to counter with a head kick.
Boykin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Boykin has a takedown stuffed.
Proctor was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Proctor defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Boykin.
Boykin moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromProctor.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Proctor! Boykin is out on his feet! Proctor rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Boykin is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Boykin is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Proctor!
