Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leiro Nayr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nayr comes to the cage accompanied by Thunderstruck - AC/DC. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Leiro Nayr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Simpson!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson misses with a few strikes there.
Ben Simpson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nayr misses with a straight left.
Nayr is looking to clinch but Simpson is avoiding it.
It seemed like Simpson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Simpson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Nayr is looking for a sweep. Simpson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Simpson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nayr's head.
Simpson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nayr keeps working.
Simpson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Simpson is trying to control the action in half guard but Nayr is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Nayr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Simpson on the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nayr is staying active underneath Simpson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Simpson tries to pass to full mount but Nayr defends it.
Simpson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nayr does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Nayr won't allow Simpson to pass to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nayr tries to get to full guard but Simpson has control of the leg.
Simpson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Simpson wants to control but Nayr is keeping him busy.
Simpson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nayr defends it well.
Simpson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nayr is just riding it out for now. Simpson eventually gives up the hold.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Simpson working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Simpson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The referee warns Nayr that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nayr is bucking up trying to escape but Simpson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Simpson postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Nayr badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Simpson around the waist but Simpson pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Simpson is the winner by TKO! Simpson jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ben Simpson!
