PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Von Dodson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quaid Sama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Von Dodson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Quaid Sama!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dodson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sama throws out the jab.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dodson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Dodson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Dodson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dodson shoots for a double leg takedown but Sama sprawls well. He's pushed Dodson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Dodson is looking for a counter combo.
Dodson darts in looking for a takedown but Sama gets double underhooks and turns Dodson into the cage.
Sama leaves Dodson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Von Dodson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sama closes the distance and pushes Dodson back into the cage.
Dodson is trying to force a seperation but Sama has the dominant position.
Dodson is looking to break free of the clinch but Sama has double underhooks.

Sama is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Dodson is defending well.

Sama ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sama no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Dodson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Sama wants to improve his position but Dodson is controlling well.
Dodson slips a nice elbow through Sama's hands, connecting with Sama's forehead.

Dodson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sama with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Sama wants to control but Dodson is keeping busy.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dodson lands a nice short elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quaid Sama dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Dodson is rocked!
Sama fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Dodson square on the jaw! Damn, Dodson is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Quaid Sama!
