Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Azevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taiki Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Azevedo comes to the cage accompanied by Puddle Of Mudd - Psycho . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thiago Azevedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Taiki Aoki!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aoki checks a leg kick.
Aoki is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Azevedo throws a sloppy head kick and Aoki moves out of range easily.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Aoki! But no joy.
Nice straight punches there by Azevedo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Azevedo.

Aoki shoots for a takedown but Azevedo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Azevedo fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Aoki checks it well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Azevedo looks to land a left hand but Aoki moved out of range nicely.
Aoki looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Aoki seems to have recovered his senses.

Azevedo throws out a leg kick but Aoki moves out of range and Azevedo only half commits.
Azevedo throws a push kick but Aoki slaps the foot to one side.
Aoki lands with a cross.
Aoki fails with a takedown attempt.
Azevedo on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Aoki checks a low kick from Azevedo.
Aoki with the counter takedown but Azevedo avoids it easily.
Azevedo throws out a loose jab but Aoki uses good head movement to avoid it.
Azevedo cracks the inside of Aoki's front leg.
Azevedo throws a solid leg kick but Aoki takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Azevedo.
Azevedo scores with a jab to the head.
Azevedo moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Aoki has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Azevedo tries a head kick but it misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Azevedo stuffs the takedown.
Thiago Azevedo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Taiki Aoki.
Azevedo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Aoki moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Aoki connects with a single shot there.
Azevedo looks to throw the jab but Aoki is out of range.
Aoki changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Azevedo tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Aoki is able to avoid easily.
Aoki bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Azevedo's head backwards.
A bone on bone clash there as Aoki blocks the leg kick.
And Aoki tries to counter it with a takedown but Azevedo pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Azevedo misses with a body shot.
Azevedo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Aoki was well out of range. Poor timing from Azevedo.
A left lands for Aoki.


Azevedo is rocked!
Aoki blocks a jab.
Oh Azevedo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Azevedo cracks Aoki with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Azevedo seems to have got his legs back now.

Azevedo ducks straight into an uppercut from Aoki and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Azevedo manages to regain guard straight away.
Aoki loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Azevedo has Aoki pulled in close to control his posture.
Aoki lands a couple of elbows.
Aoki is in close to Azevedo's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Aoki postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Azevedo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Azevedo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Aoki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Aoki cracks Azevedo with a solid left hand.
Aoki arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Azevedo's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Taiki Aoki!
A victorious Taiki Aoki thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
