Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kirk Thorpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunter has chosen I'm Shipping Up To Boston as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Hunter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Thorpe scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Hunter throws a looping overhand right but Thorpe ducks down to avoid it.
Hunter has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Thorpe is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Hunter looks to land a left hand but Thorpe moved out of range nicely.
Hunter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thorpe.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hunter closes the distance and clinches up with Thorpe, looking for a takedown. Hunter pushes Thorpe against the cage but Thorpe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Justin Hunter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Thorpe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hunter was well out of range. Poor timing from Thorpe.
A nice side step and Hunter releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Hunter tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Thorpe defends well and Hunter ends up having to push Thorpe into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Thorpe closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Hunter! Thorpe dives in looking to finish! Hunter is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
