Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Trane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DonT Bill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for John Trane has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Trane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, DonT Bill!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trane scores with a jab to the jaw.
Bill darts in looking for a takedown but Trane gets double underhooks and turns Bill into the cage.
Bill walks into a left hand.
A combination from Trane does no damage.
And Bill tries to counter it with a takedown but Trane pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Bill fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Trane sprawls well initially but Bill persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bill thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Trane's head.

Bill stops Trane from getting back to his feet.
Bill wants to take a breather but Trane is having none of it.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Bill has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Still in half guard, Bill seems content to control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Trane has his foot on Bill's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bill works his way back into a safe position though.

Bill is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Bill might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Trane haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bill drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bill jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Trane is looking for a triangle but Bill pushes his legs off easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

And Bill tries to counter it with a takedown but Trane pushes his down on his head and steps out.

and Trane counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Bill tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Trane cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bill tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
It looked like Trane wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Trane is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

and Trane counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
John Trane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DonT Bill.

Trane tries to bum rush Bill with a series of wild strikes but Bill uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

As Bill looks to move away, Trane throws a big counter combo bu Bill just gets out of the way.

Bill fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Trane to the ground. Bill is now in Trane's guard.
Bill is breathing heavily.
Bill content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Trane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Trane here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Bill is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Trane has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Bill is looking to defend but Trane has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Bill! Trane pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Bill taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Trane!
