The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Light with a lazy takedown attempt
and Light takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Matus scores with a nice body kick.
Matus stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Matus wants it to stay on the feet.
Matus lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Light.
Light looks winded!
Light drops down looking for an ankle pick but Matus pulls his leg out and moves away.
Don Juan Matus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Coors Light.

Matus lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Our sources have told us that Matus has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Matus has Light pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Light is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Matus - that's hurt Light badly! Oh, another knee lands and Light is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Light doesn't seem to be complaining.
