Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deividas Vilkas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Speakman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Vilkas might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hunter/Killer. Jeff Speakman will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Deividas Vilkas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeff Speakman!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Speakman swats away the attempt to clinch by Vilkas.

Vilkas clinches.
Speakman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Vilkas throws an elbow but it misses.
Speakman has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Vilkas after a bit of a struggle.
Vilkas makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Vilkas looks to throw an elbow but misses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Speakman has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Speakman tries for a takedown but Vilkas manages to get underhooks.

Vilkas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Speakman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Vilkas leaves Speakman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Deividas Vilkas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Speakman.
Vilkas buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Vilkas leaves Speakman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vilkas throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Vilkas scores with a decent looking hook.
Vilkas with a nice cross.


It looks like Jeff Speakman has been cut.
Speakman misses with a double jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Speakman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vilkas as he jumps to the side.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Vilkas.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vilkas moves out of range of the strikes.
Vilkas scores with a kick to the body.
Vilkas lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Speakman at a distance.
Speakman swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A chopping leg kick lands by Vilkas.
Vilkas lands a head kick!
A slapping leg kick lands for Vilkas.
Vilkas cracks Speakman with an open hand slap.
Vilkas lands a jab to the head.
Vilkas dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Speakman. That did some damage!
Speakman looks for a takedown but Vilkas sprawls well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Speakman shoots in but no luck this time.
Vilkas connects with a good right hand that stumbles Speakman. Speakman circles away out of range and recomposes himself.


Speakman is rocked!
Vilkas ducks down and throws a big overhand right - it lands flush on the jaw, knocking Speakman out cold! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Deividas Vilkas!
After winning the bout, Deividas Vilkas thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
