Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xzing Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell's entrance music is It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. A fine choice. The key to victory for Chuck Liddell has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 40 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Xzing Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Liddell on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Gomez wants a takedown but no success here.
Gomez fails to pull guard.

Liddell gets control of Gomez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Liddell will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Liddell counters by moving into the clinch.
Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xzing Gomez.

Gomez is trying to drag Liddell to the mat but Liddell just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Liddell is looking for a triangle but Gomez pushes his legs off easily.
Gomez tries to free his leg and advance position but Liddell is retaining full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liddell seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Gomez looking to sit in guard and control but Liddell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gomez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Liddell controls the pace.
Gomez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Liddell has taken the fight to the clinch.

Liddell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gomez can do to turn this around?

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Xzing Gomez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Liddell has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
