Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Brock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Velasquez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Kryptonite. Brock has chosen Venom's Theme as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Brock!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Velasquez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Brock!
Velasquez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brock keeps working.

Velasquez tries for a kimura but Brock is defending well.
Brock wants to get back to his feet but Velasquez drags him back down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velasquez is staying tight to Brock's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Brock tries to escape but Velasquez is in control.
Velasquez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brock keeps working.

Velasquez is trying to get an arm triangle but Brock is defending well.
Brock stops Velasquez from passing to mount.
Velasquez looks up at the clock and then as Brock takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Velasquez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Velasquez swings around for an armbar but Brock sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Velasquez's guard.

Velasquez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Brock avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Velasquez is looking for a triangle but Brock pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brock got a little sloppy there for a moment and Velasquez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brock has managed to get both his arms back between Velasquez's legs - danger averted.
Velasquez seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Brock trying to stand up but can't free himself from Velasquez's guard.
Velasquez is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Velasquez has Brock pulled in close to control his posture.
Velasquez is trying to control the position but Brock postures up.

Brock stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Brock lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Velasquez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brock's waist but Brock gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Velasquez off to one side.
Brock lands a jab to the head.
Velasquez shoots in and drives through. Brock sprawls well.
Velasquez has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cain Velasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Velasquez shoots for a double leg takedown but Brock sprawls well. He's pushed Velasquez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Brock tries to sprawl but Velasquez drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Brock is trying to stand back up but Velasquez is controlling him
Velasquez is looking to advance position but Brock won't allow it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cain Velasquez dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Velasquez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Brock sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Velasquez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brock swivels and escapes.

Brock throws a good cross that connects.
Velasquez takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Brock counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Brock.

Brock pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Velasquez takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Velasquez closes the distance and clinches up with Brock, looking for a takedown. Velasquez pushes Brock against the cage but Brock circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Velasquez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Brock.
Velasquez shoots in for a takedown but Brock shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A shot to the liver by Brock. Beautiful body shot.
Brock darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Velasquez looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Velasquez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brock tries to avoid it but Velasquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brock to the ground. Brock escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Velasquez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Cain Velasquez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Velasquez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Velasquez is working for a submission of some sort.

Brock kicks off Velasquez and gets to his feet.
A big left from Velasquez misses.
Brock throws a hook but Velasquez blocks it.
Brock throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Velasquez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Brock ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Velasquez misses with a body shot.
Cain Velasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velasquez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Brock scores with a hook.
Brock throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Brock lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Brock throws out a loose jab but Velasquez uses good head movement to avoid it.
Brock thumps Velasquez with a low kick.
Brock lands a really nice looking cross but Velasquez seems unphased.

Velasquez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brock is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Velasquez swings around for an armbar but Brock sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Velasquez's guard.
Brock has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Eddie Brock showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Velasquez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brock tries to avoid it but Velasquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brock to the ground. Brock escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Velasquez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brock but Brock pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Velasquez is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Brock fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Velasquez.
The fighters circle momentarily. Brock darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
No luck for Velasquez with that takedown attempt.
Velasquez misses with a takedown attempt - Brock sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brock has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Brock's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Brock duly obliges.

A jab lands there for Brock.
Brock throws a leg kick which misses Velasquez's front leg but catches the back leg as Velasquez tries to avoid it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Velasquez.
Velasquez fails with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Velasquez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brock.
A jab from Velasquez misses.
Eddie Brock is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Velasquez misses with a straight left.
Velasquez on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Velasquez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Brock misses with a low kick.
Brock displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Velasquez.
Velasquez dives in and grabs Brock's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brock pushes down on Velasquez's head and hops out.
Velasquez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brock pinned against the cage. Brock gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Brock connects with a leg kick. Velasquez looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eddie Brock comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Brock has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
