Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wichael Mood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve VanDerbeek!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VanDerbeek swinging wildly here.

VanDerbeek bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
VanDerbeek sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Mood is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
VanDerbeek fails to land a wild elbow strike.
I wouldn't like to be where Mood is right now.

Mood throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Mood shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. VanDerbeek manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mood passes into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mood connects with a nice short shot to VanDerbeek's temple.
VanDerbeek taking some punishment here, with Mood in his half guard.
VanDerbeek wants to improve his position but Mood is controlling well.
Mood uses his free foot to push down on VanDerbeek's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for VanDerbeek.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mood landing strikes from the mount and VanDerbeek is in trouble!
Mood takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mood is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. VanDerbeek can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Mood prevents VanDerbeek from getting the reversal.

Mood is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Mood attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
VanDerbeek throws a combination that misses

and Mood counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
VanDerbeek is looking to sweep but instead, Mood has passed into half guard.

Mood is trying for a kimura here. VanDerbeek looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Mood wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Wichael Mood!
In defeat, Steve VanDerbeek stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'm going back to train at Finch Farm - 2752, Sydney. Nice fight.'.
