The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Steve Erwin and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin motions for Kessler to come forward. Martin throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Nice body kick there by Kessler.
Martin misses with a looping left.
Kessler connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Martin tries for a takedown but Kessler circles away easily
and Kessler counters with a solid body kick.

Martin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Jax Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've been told by Martin's head coaches at Beat Down Under that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Martin throws out a powerful jab.

Kessler explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Martin has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kessler.
Martin tries to clinch but Kessler is having none of it.
Kessler rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Martin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kessler lands a leg kick that knocks Martin off balance momentarily.

Martin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kessler can pounce on him.

and Kessler counters with a low kick, right behind Martin 's knee.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Martin tries to bum rush Kessler with a series of wild strikes but Kessler uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Martin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Martin is breathing heavily.
Martin misses with an uppercut
and Kessler holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kessler throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Kessler lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Nice body punch from Kessler - that landed with a thud.

Kessler manages to break the clinch.
Kessler works Martin's body with a nice hook.
Martin is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
A lazy left from Kessler finds it's target.

Kessler closes the distance and pushes Martin back into the cage.
Oh Martin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Kessler breaks the clinch.
Martin walks straight into a right hand from Kessler - that's dropped him! Kessler jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Martin from any more punishment! Martin complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Johann Kessler!
Jax Martin was interviewed post fight and said 'I still have a lot to learn. I didn't do as well as I would have liked, but I will continue to grow and improve. My manager always says, "If you have 5min to spare, you are far to lazy." I need to be busier.'.
