PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Martin Kampemann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patches Meech (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kampemann's entrance music is pretty enough. A fine choice. Meech has chosen shear it maybe as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Kampemann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patches Meech!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meech throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Kampemann counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Kampemann is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Meech defends it well.

Kampemann wants to work for an arm triangle but Meech is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Kampemann's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Meech can do anything to dispel that myth.

Horrible takedown attempt by Kampemann or perhaps it was just good defense by Meech, which made it look bad.
Kampemann looks to land a left hand but Meech moved out of range nicely.

Kampemann throws out a loose jab but Meech uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kampemann changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Meech looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Kampemann is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Meech has escaped the position, nice work there.

Kampemann is trying to get an arm triangle but Meech is defending well.
Meech really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kampemann. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kampemann wants to lay and pray for a moment but Meech keeps working.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Kampemann is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Meech is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kampemann goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Meech has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kampemann but great work by Meech.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Meech is staying active underneath Kampemann, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kampemann is keen to just control but Meech is a slippery customer.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Kampemann closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kampemann has hold of Meech's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Meech manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

You get the feeling that Meech really doesn't like being in this position too much.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Meech looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Kampemann! Submission of the night perhaps?
