Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aldon Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Uso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by Big Rich ,San Quinn & Boo Banger- San Francisco Anthem. Uso has chosen So Close Now as his entrance music. Jonathan Uso told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aldon Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jonathan Uso!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a jab to the body

and Uso counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Uso wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Uso working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Uso is controlling him.
Uso is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Uso has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Uso is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Smith makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Smith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Uso's guard.

Smith is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Smith holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Smith creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Uso on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Smith throws a shot from downtown. Uso moves away and avoids it.
Uso throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Uso off to one side.
Smith has been working on his balance at Kamehameha Fight Club, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Uso.
Smith leaves Uso with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Uso is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Smith defends it well.

Uso is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Smith is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
