PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Geeves Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendrik Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Armstrong comes into the arena with Kickstart My Heart blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Kendrik Down enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left lands for Down.
Down shoots in looking for a takedown but Armstrong manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Down's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

We've been told by Armstrong's head coaches at Blitzkrieg Fighting Systems: Ground that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Armstrong connects with the punch.
Down wants to clinch.
Down uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Armstrong.
Down fails in his attempt to clinch.
The crowd cheers as Armstrong lands an impressive looking overhand right. Down doesn't seem phased though.

Down continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
Armstrong will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Down up against the cage.

Down checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Down steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Armstrong.
No joy there for Down, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Armstrong tries a head kick but it misses.
Down tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Armstrong paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Some bone on bone action there as Down checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Down steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Armstrong.

Armstrong trying to stall but Down improves his position.
Down lands a body shot in the clinch.
Armstrong misses with the head strike.
Armstrong misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Down blocks an uppercut.
Down tries for a takedown. No joy.

Armstrong trying to control the position but instead, Down has worked for underhooks and has pushed Armstrong into the cage.

Down throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Armstrongs head.
Armstrong tries to work over Down's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Armstrong is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Armstrong's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Armstrong cracks Down with a nice body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Down is pushing Armstrong up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Armstrong throws a punch but it's blocked by Down.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Geeves Armstrong will probably get the nod.

Geeves Armstrong is winning the standup battle so far.

and Armstrong counters with a head kick. That will keep Down thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Geeves Armstrong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Down connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Armstrong covering up! Down comes in with a big uppercut and Armstrong goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.
