PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harry Blunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and That Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guy has chosen Walk by Pantera as his entrance music. The key to victory for Harry Blunder has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Harry Blunder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, That Guy!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blunder takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Guy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Blunder controls Guy momentarily but Guy frees himself.

Blunder is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Guy defends well.
Guy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Guy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Guy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Guy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Guy postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Guy stands and steps away. Blunder gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Blunder goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nice takedown defense from Guy. No joy for Blunder on that attempt.
Blunder throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Blunder keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Blunder stuffs the takedown attempt from Guy. Guy gets slowly back to his feet.
Guy takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Blunder throws a head kick but Guy moves out of range.
Guy dives in for a single leg takedown but Blunder sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Harry Blunder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of That Guy.

Guy has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Blunder clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Guy is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Blunder's coaches at Xtreme Fight Club (easily best in Amsterdam) have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Blunder trying to control the position but Guy manages to sink in the hooks.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Guy is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Blunder manages to reverse the position and now he's in Guy's guard. Nice work there by Blunder.

Blunder would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Guy wants to sweep but no luck.

Guy has his foot on Blunder's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Blunder works his way back into a safe position though.

Blunder wants to control from the top but Guy keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Guy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blunder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blunder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Guy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blunder gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Blunder is looking to stand up but Guy won't let him.
Blunder slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Guy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Guy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Blunder defends it well.
Blunder wants to control but Guy is keeping busy.

Guy wants to work for an arm triangle but Blunder is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Guy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Guy is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Blunder has managed to free his arm - good work.
Blunder makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Blunder.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Blunder tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Guy with a nice head shot there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That Guy dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Blunder dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Guy. That did some damage!
Blunder leaves Guy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Blunder stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Blunder wants it to stay on the feet.

Guy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Blunder was covering up waiting for the punch and Guy finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Blunder is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Blunder is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Guy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Guy postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Guy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Guy lands a couple of digs.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Guy is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Blunder is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Blunder has escaped and now he's on top!

Guy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Guy is on top in guard.

Guy drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Blunder dives on top into guard.
Blunder wants to control from the top but Guy keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blunder stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Guy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Blunder stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Blunder is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Guy's half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Guy is looking for a sweep. Blunder is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Blunder is looking to take a break and control but Guy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Guy regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Guy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Guy is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Blunder frees his head nicely. Oh but Guy has switched to an armbar! Blunder is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). That Guy!
During a confident post fight interview, That Guy thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
