PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Kessler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bowman Rook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kessler comes to the cage accompanied by Yattering - Chase of Thoughts . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Kessler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bowman Rook!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rook thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kessler if he has to take too many more of those.
Kessler lands with a hook. Rook tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Kessler misses with a straight right.
Rook misses with a body shot.
Rook thows a body shot but no joy.
Kessler wants to land a leg kick but Rook is out of range.
Jack Kessler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Rook counters with a stiff right hand.
Kessler shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rook moves in looking to clinch but Kessler pushes him off.

Rook moves in looking to clinch but Kessler pushes him off.

Rook bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kessler's head backwards.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Rook, as that shot connected.

Kessler misses the shot to the body.
Nice jab there from Kessler.
Kessler lands with a cross.
Kessler throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Kessler throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rook sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Rook throws a body punch but Kessler moves out of range.
Kessler pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Kessler checks the leg kick nicely there.

Kessler looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kessler tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rook was well out of range. Poor timing from Kessler.
Rook tries to close the distance and clinch but Kessler swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kessler misses with a low kick.
Rook moves in looking to clinch but Kessler pushes him off.
Rook feints and then cracks Kessler's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kessler down.

Kessler takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kessler connects with a solid leg kick.

and Rook counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kessler is defended easily by Rook.
A punch lands to the side of Rook 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Rook tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kessler swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rook looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
It looks like Kessler has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

Still in the clinch, Rook scores with a nice short uppercut.
Kessler blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Rook is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kessler is defending well for now.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Jack Kessler will probably get the nod.

Rook closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kessler did well to prevent Rook getting side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Kessler.
I think Kessler has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
