Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samson Savea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aldon Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith has chosen Big Rich ,San Quinn & Boo Banger- San Francisco Anthem as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith drops his hands momentarily and Savea takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
A cross from Savea lands.
Smith moves away from the strike by Savea.
A head kick misses from Savea.
Savea tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.
We've been hearing reports that Savea has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

and Savea counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Savea fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Smith is out of range.
Savea drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Smith has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

That was a close round but I would say that Samson Savea will probably get the nod.

Smith throws out a loose jab but Savea uses good head movement to avoid it.

Savea shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Savea gets slowly back to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Savea takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Smith cracks Savea with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Smith scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Savea is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Smith can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
