The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Tickel does no damage.

Ma is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Tickel's half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Tickel tries to get to full guard but Ma has control of the leg.
Tickel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ma sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Tickel defending well though.

Ma is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Tickel is looking to control Ma's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tickel avoid being mounted?

Ma seems to be looking for submissions.

Tickel is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ma's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ma's back!
Ma might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tickel doesn't have the hooks in and Ma manages to turn into his guard.

Ma wants to pass the guard but Tickel is keeping the position.

Ma passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Ma tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ma has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Ma thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ma is looking to take a break and control but Tickel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Tickel manages to get to full guard.

Ma is sitting in close to Tickel's body. Tickel has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ma is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ma is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Tickel.
