PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Root Beer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Marleau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Root Beer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Patrick Marleau!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Darius Henderson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marleau changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Beer tries to avoid it but Marleau manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Beer to the ground. Beer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Beer fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Marleau shoots for a takedown but Beer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Marleau takes a kick to the side of the head.


It looks like Patrick Marleau has been cut.
Beer lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Marleau shoots in looking for a takedown. Beer tries to sprawl out of it but Marleau keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Beer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Root Beer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Marleau.
Marleau changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Beer tries to avoid it but Marleau manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Beer to the ground. Beer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A head kick misses from Beer.
A nice inside leg kick there by Beer. That's going to slow Marleau down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Marleau stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Beer.
Marleau blocks a head kick by Beer.

Marleau avoids the head kick by Beer.
Marleau shoots in looking for a takedown but Beer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Marleau's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Marleau darts in looking for a takedown but Beer gets double underhooks and turns Marleau into the cage.

Beer pulls guard successfully.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Marleau throws a big right hand that misses.
Marleau forces his way into half guard.
Beer blocking the ground and pound attempt from Marleau.
Beer is trying to stand up here but Marleau is controlling him well.
Marleau stalling.
Marleau is trying to control the action in half guard but Beer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Marleau has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Marleau looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Beer wants to get back to his feet.
Marleau wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beer keeps working.

Beer is defending against the submission attempts here by Marleau.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Beer is trying to stand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Marleau is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Beer has managed to free his arm - good work.

Marleau is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Beer defends it well.
Marleau stops Beer from getting back to his feet.

Marleau is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Beer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Marleau.
Marleau prevents Beer from standing back up.
Beer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Beer tries to get out of the position.

Well, if Marleau is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Marleau wants to take a breather but Beer is having none of it.

Marleau is trying for a kimura here. Beer looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Marleau wins by kimura!
