PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dean Corll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corll comes to the cage accompanied by South Texas Death Ride. Kent has chosen I'll be Back as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Peter Kent enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dean Corll!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Peter Kent!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kent lands a jab to the head.
Corll throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Corll throws a jab but it's blocked by Kent.
Kent moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kent slips a jab from Corll.
Kent loads up on a big right hand but Corll slips the punch.
A slapping body kick lands there for Corll.
Kent throws a shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Corll. Kent does a little dance to reset his feet.
Corll shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kent defends it nicely.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Corll scores with the left hand. Kent knows he should have avoided that one.
Kent fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kent lands a jab to Corll's midsection.
Corll fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kent misses with a looping left.
Kent lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Corll throws a leg kick which misses Kent's front leg but catches the back leg as Kent tries to avoid it.

and Kent takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Peter Kent has been cut.
Kent tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Corll was well out of range. Poor timing from Kent.
Kent throws a poor cross that misses
and Corll connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Corll tests Kent's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Corll throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Kent counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kent bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Crunch! Corll slams his shin into Kent's torso.
Kent takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Kent takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Corll dives in for a single leg takedown but Kent sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Corll is looking to break free of the clinch but Kent has double underhooks.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kent creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Corll wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

I was talking to Corll's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Corll swings wildly with an uppercut but Kent uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Corll counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kent is looking to stand up but Corll isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Corll would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Corll wants to control from the top but Kent keeps moving.

Dean Corll has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Corll blocks a jab.
Corll is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Kent shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Kent connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Peter Kent is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Corll throws a shot from downtown. Kent moves away and avoids it.
Corll avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kent misses with the combination.
Kent avoids the head kick by Corll.
Kent fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Corll dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Corll thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kent if he has to take too many more of those.

Kent closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

That was a close round but I would say that Dean Corll will probably get the nod.

That's time! Corll's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Corll throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kent's waist but Kent gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Corll off to one side.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Corll dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kent. That did some damage!

Kent stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kent wants it to stay on the feet.

Corll shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kent is trying to defend but Corll finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Peter Kent was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Corll tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kent defends well and Corll ends up having to push Kent into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Kent escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Corll connects with a body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dean Corll will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Peter Kent's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Kent looks to land a left hand but Corll moved out of range nicely.
Corll tries a head kick but it misses.

Kent gets a clinch.
Kent has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Corll is trying to push Kent away but Kent has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Kent lands with a nice combination. Corll backs away looking to recover.

The fight stays on the outside here - Kent looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Peter Kent comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Corll has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
