PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans De Vries (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross comes to the cage accompanied by Neck of the Woods. De Vries has chosen Duke Lion as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mike Ross!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 18 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hans De Vries!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Vries throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
De Vries avoids the body shot from Ross.
De Vries has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Ross misses the jab.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts De Vries, as that shot connected.
Ross avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

and De Vries decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ross's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

De Vries looks up at the clock and then as Ross takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, De Vries smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


De Vries tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ross paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ross moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Ross checks a leg kick.

Hans De Vries seems to be getting the better of the standup.
De Vries stalks Ross and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ross's face. Ross staggers backwards, shaken.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Well Ross has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
