PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksander Medved (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregor Clegane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Gregor Clegane!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clegane throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Medved doesn't manage to clinch there - Clegane circles away.
Medved could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Some wild striking there from Clegane.
Medved has his takedown stuffed
and Medved takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Aleksander Medved has been cut.
Medved looks for a takedown but Clegane sprawls well.
An inside leg kick from Medved misses.
Medved fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aleksander Medved. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Medved will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Medved throws a looping overhand right but Clegane ducks down to avoid it.

Clegane looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Clegane looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Clegane is keen to just control but Medved is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Medved wants to improve his position but Clegane is controlling well.

Clegane must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Medved bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Clegane's guard.

Clegane is trying to keep Medved in close.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Clegane can do anything to dispel that myth.
Medved wants to control from the top but Clegane keeps moving.

Clegane is pulling down on Medved's head. It's preventing any offense from Medved, at least for the moment.

That was a close round but I would say that Aleksander Medved will probably get the nod.

Medved feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Medved throws a strike but Clegane rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Medved has Clegane pulled in close to control his posture.

Medved is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Clegane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Medved would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Aleksander Medved wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Medved throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Clegane's waist but Clegane gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Medved off to one side.

Clegane has Medved up against the cage in a clinch.
Medved tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Clegane just stands there and leans against the cage.
Clegane stops a takedown attempt from Medved.
Medved fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Medved tries for a takedown but Clegane manages to get underhooks.
Clegane is trying to drag Medved to the mat but Medved just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Medved has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

A close second round but Gregor Clegane will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Clegane has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Medved avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Aleksander Medved overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Medved is stalling here. Clegane is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Medved seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Clegane has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
