PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Damien Lok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Marsden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lok comes to the cage accompanied by Butthole Surfers - Pepper. Marsden has chosen I got five on it by Luniz as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damien Lok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Marsden!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marsden gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Marsden looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lok is one step ahead there.
Lok advances position into side control!
Lok just content to control the position.
Lok wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marsden keeps working.
Lok working the ground and pound.

Lok is trying to get an arm triangle but Marsden is defending well.

Lok lands a few punches from side control.

Lok wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Marsden, who protects the arm well.
Lok throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Marsden is not content to let Lok control the position.
Lok tries to score with some ground and pound. Marsden controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Marsden tries to buck Lok off but Lok is having none of it.
Lok scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Marsden to see if he's OK.

Lok in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Marsden manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Marsden is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lok doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Marsden.

Lok looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Lok is looking to improve his position.
Lok flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Lok missing with punches from the bottom.
Lok moves into full guard.
Lok punching from the bottom - just letting Marsden know he's still in a fight.
Lok seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Marsden scoring with some ground and pound.
Marsden wants to pass the guard but Lok is keeping the position.
Lok trying to keep a closed guard but Marsden is proving a slippery customer.

Lok has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Marsden can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Marsden sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lok's guard.
Lok slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Lok looking for a sweep. Not yet Lok, not yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lok working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marsden doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marsden manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lok is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marsden is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damien Lok dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Marsden tries a head kick but it misses.
A jab from Lok misses.
Marsden throws a half hearted mid kick.
Marsden pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Lok scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
A lazy left from Lok finds it's target.
Good exchange - Marsden coming out on top.
A jab from Lok does it's job there.
Lok connects with a right hand. Marsden shakes it off.
Marsden tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lok manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lok throws a left and a right that both miss
and Marsden makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

A head punch on the inside from Marsden fails to land.
Marsden goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Lok can't find room to land a body shot as Marsden controls the action.
Marsden lands a left hand.
A body shot lands from Lok.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lok looking to throw knees to the head but Marsden is blocking nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Marsden breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lok moves into the clinch.
Lok tries to throw a body punch but Marsden avoids it by throwing Lok back against the cage.
Lok is trying to drag Marsden to the mat but Marsden just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lok working aggressively here.
Marsden presses Lok against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Marsden lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Marsden gets control of Lok's arms and successfully pulls guard. Marsden will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Lok working some strikes from top position.
Lok throws a strike but Marsden rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Lok looking for a sweep. Not yet Lok, not yet.
Lok wants to hit a switch here but Marsden passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Lok there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lok tries to reverse the position but Marsden maintains control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Marsden pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.


Lok is rocked!
Lok is desperately trying to improve his position but Marsden has a good base and remains in mount.
Oh Lok is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Marsden has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Lok is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Brandon Marsden!
Post fight, an emotional Brandon Marsden said 'A weakling like you doesn't deserve fists to fight with, now go fade to nothingness!'.
