Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and German Dolgopolov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell comes to the cage accompanied by It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. Chuck Liddell could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to German Dolgopolov's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 33 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, German Dolgopolov!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dolgopolov cracks Liddell with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Liddell takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Liddell is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dolgopolov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Dolgopolov tries a low kick but Liddell avoids it.
Liddell looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dolgopolov is fending him off so far but Liddell persists. Nope, Dolgopolov circles away and we're back to standing.
Dolgopolov thows a leg kick but Liddell checks it
and Liddell counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Dolgopolov looks to land a left hand but Liddell moved out of range nicely.

Liddell forces Dolgopolov back against the cage and clinches.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Liddell.
Liddell scores with a knee to the head.
Dolgopolov looking to stall.
Dolgopolov swings wildly with an uppercut but Liddell uses good head movement to avoid it.

Dolgopolov lands a hook to the side of the head.
Dolgopolov wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Liddell has him pressed against the cage.
Dolgopolov swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Liddell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Liddell scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Dolgopolov with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Dolgopolov throws a right and a left that Liddell avoids nicely.
Dolgopolov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dolgopolov throws a right and a left that both miss.

Dolgopolov with a nice cross.
Liddell has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chuck Liddell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A combination from Dolgopolov does no damage.
Dolgopolov fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Liddell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Jab, jab by Liddell - just one landing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dolgopolov tries to sprawl but Liddell drives through with a takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Liddell content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Liddell has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Liddell is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dolgopolov is trying to stand.
Dolgopolov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Liddell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Liddell performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Liddell is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dolgopolov told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Liddell dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Dolgopolov throws a right and a left that Liddell avoids nicely.
Dolgopolov connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Liddell has a takedown stuffed.

Liddell clinches up against the cage.
Dolgopolov is stalling here.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Dolgopolov.

Liddell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Dolgopolov lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Chuck Liddell has been cut.
Dolgopolov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Dolgopolov tries to sprawl but Liddell drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Dolgopolov is trying to stand.

Liddell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dolgopolov defends it well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dolgopolov can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dolgopolov has hold of Liddell's hands but Liddell slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Liddell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Liddell stalling.

Liddell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Liddell seems to be working for a kimura but Dolgopolov defends the submission attempt.
Liddell works his foot free and advances to mount.
Liddell with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Liddell looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Liddell sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Liddell throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Dolgopolov has his hands clasped together but Liddell breaks the hold and Dolgopolov is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Liddell!
