Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Tirado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Tirado will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricio Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Tirado!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tirado.
Tirado has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Rua is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Rua tries to clinch but Tirado is having none of it.
A jab from Tirado misses.
Rua blocks a jab.
Tirado connects with a crisp jab.
Tirado throws a jab when Rua was well out of range.
Rua is looking to clinch but Tirado is avoiding it.
Tirado throws a hook but Rua avoids it easily.
Tirado looks to land a right hand but Rua moved out of range.
Rua shoots in but no luck this time.

Rua closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tirado circles away.

Tirado tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rua defends well and Tirado ends up having to push Rua into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A frustrated look appears on Rua's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Tirado pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Tirado moves in looking to clinch but Rua pushes him off.

Rua decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Tirado tries to kick Rua off but Rua keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Rua has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rua is nestled in close to Tirado, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Tirado wants to get back to his feet.
Rua wants to free his trapped foot but Tirado is holding on for dear life with his legs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rua is working for a kimura but Tirado is defending it quite comfortably.

Rua is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tirado is just riding it out for now. Rua eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Rua is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Tirado sees it coming and defends easily.

Rua looks to land a strike but Tirado avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Rua's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Rua is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tirado sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Rua tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tirado sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rua somewhat.
Mike Tirado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rua ducks under a wild hook from Tirado.
Tirado leaves Rua with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

It looks like Ricio Rua has been cut.
Rua looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Rua tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tirado sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rua somewhat.

Rua moves out of range of the leg kick from Tirado.
Tirado is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rua.
Tirado thuds his right hand into Rua's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Tirado tests Rua's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ricio Rua is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rua shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rua was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tirado can do anything to dispel that myth.

A close second round but Mike Tirado will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


A nice combination there by Tirado.
Tirado tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rua swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rua moves out of range of the strikes.

Rua pushes Tirado up against the cage in a clinch.
Tirado is pressed up against the cage. Rua has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tirado down to the mat. Tirado avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tirado might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Tirado throws an overhand right that lands on Rua's shoulder, as Rua tries to avoid the shot.

Tirado's corner calls for a 1-2. Tirado obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Tirado takes the fight into the clinch.
Oh Rua is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tirado lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Rua to his knees! Tirado keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Tirado!
Mike Tirado decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
