PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tekken Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raje Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Tekken Slice has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tekken Slice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raje Malapitan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Malapitan. Slice does a little dance to reset his feet.
Slice wants to clinch but Malapitan slips to the side
and Malapitan counters with a left to the body.
Slice tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Malapitan defends well and Slice ends up having to push Malapitan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Malapitan throws a head punch that misses.

Malapitan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Slice moves to clinch but Malapitan breaks away
and Malapitan counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Tekken Slice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Malapitan throws the left hand but Slice avoids the punch easily.
The fighters circling - Malapitan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Malapitan swats away the attempt to clinch by Slice.
Slice misses with a takedown
and Malapitan counters with a straight right hand.
Slice tries to score a power double leg takedown but Malapitan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Slice somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tekken Slice. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Slice doesn't manage to clinch there - Malapitan circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Slice tries to clinch but Malapitan is having none of it.

Slice fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Malapitan to the ground. Slice is now in Malapitan's guard.
Malapitan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Malapitan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Slice controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Slice trying to control the position from guard on top but Malapitan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Tekken Slice just wasn't active enough.
Slice tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Malapitan defends well and Slice ends up having to push Malapitan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Malapitan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Slice fails with the takedown
and Malapitan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Slice scores with a head kick. Malapitan tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Raje Malapitan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Slice fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Slice defending well as Malapitan loads up on a big left hand.
Slice steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Malapitan.

Malapitan waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Slice.
Slice fails with the takedown.

Malapitan is rocked!

Slice thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Malapitan is still in real trouble! Can Slice finish him?

Slice decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Malapitan, up you get!
Malapitan blocks a head kick by Slice.
Slice is breathing heavily.
Slice misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Slice closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Slice.
Slice working aggressively here.
Malapitan blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Slice misses with some punches.
Slice misses with some punches.
Slice swings away with an uppercut that misses.
The referee calls for Slice to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Slice has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Malapitan regains guard immediately.
Slice forces his way into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slice wants to work for an arm triangle but Malapitan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Slice is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Malapitan has managed to free his arm - good work.

Slice is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Malapitan sees it coming and defends easily.

Slice is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Malapitan trying to hold on to Slice's head to control him but Slice postures up.

Slice shoots in looking for a takedown. Malapitan tries to sprawl out of it but Slice keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Malapitan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Slice throws a series of punches but Malapitan avoids them all with ease.
Slice misses with a looping right.
Slice pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Malapitan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Slice.
Slice misses with a two punch combination.
Malapitan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
